Jeff Hobson is an experienced public policy and planning professional who has helped shape transportation and land use decisions in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 20 years. Jeff has served as Deputy Director for Planning of the San Francisco County Transportation Authority since April 2016. He directs or advises staff on major transportation planning efforts on long-range planning, active congestion management, modal studies, and neighborhood transportation planning. Previously, Jeff spent 17 years guiding the growth of TransForm, California’s leading transportation reform group, promoting walkable communities with excellent transportation choices. Jeff also worked on energy efficiency, environmental justice, and solar energy in the private, public, and non-profit sectors, including a year in the Tibetan refugee community in India. Jeff has a Master's degree from UC Berkeley’s Energy and Resources Group and a Bachelor's in physics from Harvard University. He and his partner Kim enjoy living in cohousing and raising two sons who are passionately involved in youth baseball and soccer and who are also experienced cyclists and public transit riders.
