Jane Lappin chairs the National Academies Transportation Research Board's standing Committee on Intelligent Transportation Systems and co-chairs the annual Automated Vehicles Symposium. She is a founding member and past chair of the ITS International Benefits, Evaluation, and Costs Working Group, has served on and chaired various World Road Association and ITS America committees and task forces, and is a member of the Carnegie Mellon University-Pennsylvania University Transportation Center Advisory Council.
Ms. Lappin is Director, Public Policy and Government Affairs, at the Toyota Research Institute. She was previously a Program Manager at the U.S. DOT Volpe National Transportation Systems Center, where her work addressed international ITS and automated vehicles research programs. Prior to joining the Volpe Center, Ms. Lappin worked for Abt Associates in its business strategy practice, focused on marketing and organizational behavior. She studied sociology as an undergraduate at Boston University and earned an MBA from Simmons College Graduate School of Management.
