David Agnew is head of regional R&D Strategy & Intelligence for Continental Automotive. His focus is on developing strategic research partnerships and aligning Continental’s future technology strategy with regional needs and governance trends. Previously, David led the start up of Continental’s first regional Advanced Engineering group, located in Auburn Hills, MI. Over the group’s first four years they developed advanced automated safety technologies targeted for production in the near future. David is also a member of the Board of Directors for AUVSI, where he is active in setting strategies for the association in the area of autonomous vehicles. David earned his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1987. Before his 20 years at Continental, he spent 7 years in the aerospace industry doing advanced development of fly-by-wire control systems for both AlliedSignal Aerospace and Moog Controls. David volunteers annually as design judge for the Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition and he serves on the Engineering & Computer Science Advisory Board for Oakland University. Coaching First Lego Robotics ranks highest so far as his most challenging and rewarding community activity.
